Where I am now...

Six years ago I was gifted with a tapestry loom.  A 22" Mirrix loom.  Two years later, I signed up for Rebecca Mezoff's online classes.  And by doing so, found a new joy and a new way to create.

While I haven't created a ton of tapestries (after all, other looms also need my attention), I have had a great time working with that amazing loom and exploring tapestry techniques.

Just off the loom...

My first tapestry was entered in my guild show a few years ago. And it even won an award!

While studying tapestry, and looking at the work of many tapestry artists, I was intrigued by wedge weave and that has been my focus for the past few months.

Two of my wedge weaves will be in our next show, opening at the end of March at The Philadelphia Guild of Handweavers.

Okay, I tried....

Okay, I tried....

I went big time. I tried Word Press. I paid money each month. I had fun messing around with layouts, etc.  I posted a few times.  I lost everything to a glitch.  I tried again.

I got so hung up with the look of the thing that I spent more time on that than posts.  Yeah, it was cool....but why do I really want to write?  I have been giving that a good bit of thought.

Primarily, I want to have a place where I can record what I do and easily point others -  family, friends and maybe others who might be interested to what it is that I am doing.   And if that's its primary purpose for a blog, then why all the fuss?

I've been on a clean out binge. Yarn I don't use, clothes I no longer wear (or fit), furniture that doesn't work anymore.  Little scraps of paper I wrote on for whatever reasons I can't remember.  Utensils in kitchen drawers that at one time I thought I would use.  Even a loom that is collecting dust.

Ideas that aren't working.

Gone...or at the very least; going.

And so, here I'll begin again. To keep an ongoing journal of what's going on in the studio, and occasionally, life outside the studio that impacts that work.

And that will be enough.
